I've wondered about this before, but it's actually very simple.

A normal license gives you the right to use the library for your own 
creative use. That means if you're the engineer, hired musician, etc., 
you're perfectly entitled to use it.

Studios can't rent libraries as part of the studio's equipment.

Maybe - but still, there's not much fairness in making money of stuff other
people (who might have no money either) are offering for free.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
