FILE NOT FOUND RESULT CODE = -42

FILE NOT FOUND RESULT CODE = -42

2005-01-29 by Wally Scharold

Hi all, my first post here.

Does anyone ever have the problem of loading an instrument and receiving the error
result: FILE NOT FOUND RESULT CODE = -42 even though all the files are present and
properly mapped in the .exs file? Currently, my only solution is reentering the path for
every individual sample which is very tedious and time consuming, and really impractical.
These are somewhat customized instruments (consolidated sample libraries) that have
been moving from drive to drive (from studio to studio). What is odd is that mono
versions of the instruments seem to load fine while stereo always gives me the above
result code.

Is there a way to have an instrument file 'rescan' for all the samples?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

many thanks,
WS

Wally,
You can use the Project Manager to rescan your instruments. (Windows >
Project Manager)
In "Browse" mode, locate your instrument(s) and choose 'find used files
for selected items' or
'find unresolved file references...' under the Functions menu.
If you are moving samples around regularly, you might want to consider
purchasing
Redmatica's EXS Manager, which is very useful and also faster than the
PM.
