EXS 24 Logic Sampler Users Group

It appears from some free downloads of samples, that 
soundfont works like giga, you drop the file into the instruments 
folder. On first use it expands.

If soundfont format is half the price of akai  ( as in Early Patches 
library) is one format preferred over the other , and why ?

It really depends. It goes library to library. Mostly, though, I don't see 
SF versions sold alongside Akai versions of libraries and having them 
priced differently. I suppose if that was the case, most of the time I'd 
get the SF library - I suppose you are right. SF's handle about the same 
range of parameters as Akai ones - Akai's usually only have a lowpass 
filter, same with SF.
