Bolder Sounds

2005-04-01 by fictionmusic2000

Awhile back I was looking for dulcimer and cimbalon sounds and I came across this site

http://www.boldersounds.com/sow.asp

I found what I was looking for but unfortunately only as a Kontackt file. I have since
ordered Kontackt but I also got in touch with Dennis Burns (who runs Bolder sounds) and
asked if he had any plans to make any exs patches.
He just got in touch with me telling me that he has exs patches now too. I bought the
library earlier and have started using with Kontackt, and now with the exs, and I am very
happy with it. There are also some great free sounds on his site. I took some of the loops
he had posted, renamed them Laundry Loops, and converted them to Apple Loops. It's a
good site and Dennis is a great guy to deal with.

Ok I know this sounds a bit spammish but if you are looking for some good free sounds as
well as a killer Cimbalon & Dulcimer samples check out his site.

I also found another site that has some free Zither sounds (among a host of others)
http://www.herman-witkam.com/raw

I've talked to Herman and he's a great lad too!

First, thanks for that link.
Second, you should look at CDXtract. It's a very useful app which
does conversion between different formats, and can convert Kontakt
patches to EXS24.

Very useful when your desired format does NOT exist....

Anyway, some day you'll have to decide what you are, a consumer or a producer...
Did you laugh about Pete's water game as I did?
Serious, take what you've got within Logic 7, EXS24MkII, salute to the moderator,
and become productive,
it's all in your mind, now go find it

Regards back Colin.

Yah I have heard of CDXtract (can't be a member here and not hear about it eventually) but
until now I have never had a need for it. Usually if there is a sound I need I can either get it
as an exs file or as a wav file and program it myself. This time I thought I'd ask the sample
store (Bolder) as I was on a job and needed it quickly (and there aren't a lot of Cimbalon
samples out there). CD extract would have come in handy, but as I had already planned to
buy Kontackt 2 anyway (for a whole lotta reasons) I decided to do it sooner than later. The
post I made about Bolder was more about letting people know about them now having exs
patches than anything else.

Still, I will seriously think about getting CDXtract, in case it happens again. It certainly
would be cheaper than buying a every sampler out there eh?

Cheers.
David
