Send Michiel Post an e-mail (I forget his address, but it's the
Contact e-mail on the postpiano site) Be specific about what
your disk has. I had a bum disk when I first received the
Emperor, and he sent another one when I told him about it.

Sure? My EXS Emperor has only one type of samples and those are 16 bit.

There is definitely a 24 bit version, it's sitting on my shelf.

Sure I'm sure. It says right on the DVD itself: "24+16
bits". How long have you had your's? I may be
mistaken, but i think the 24 bit version came out
about 6 months ago. JP

Strange...
I think I got mine last November.
On the original DVD I read "PMI400 EXS 24 bits".
There are a couple of EXS instruments and all samples (1139) are in one
folder called "EMPEROR final compressed.wve". All are 16 bit...

Just to clarify my last post, my first Emperor disk was as you
describe above, but several of the samples on mine were corrupted.
When I wrote to M. Post, I mentioned that my Old Lady DVD had
both bit-depths on it. He wrote back to say that he hadn't created
that version of the Emperor yet, and would send it when he did.
I received a new disk some weeks later with both on it.

Strange indeed!
I have one folder named "Emperor 16 bit samples" and
then another called "Full Emperor samples" which
reside in a folder called "Emperor". The Full Emperor
samples, which I believe to be 24 bit, say they were
created on Nov. 5th, 2004 which might explain why they
weren't included on your DVD.
The 24 bit version is causing fits on my set up.
That's why I'd like to use the 16 bit version till I'm
ready to freeze and mix. They're either not here or
I'm missing something.

Sonny: It sounds like you have the same DVD as me. Can
you tell me where to find the 16 bit instrument files?

Thanks, JP

Sorry, Jim, it seems Mr. Post has had several tries at this one.
My DVD shows the 16-bit sitx archive having been created
on Dec. 22, 2004 (in between stuffing envelopes for the
incredibly successful group buy, I imagine) and it's no more
difficult to find than the 24-bit sitx archive sitting next to it.

I would definitely suggest e-mailing him - he's a nice guy, and
now that he's not trying to mail 500 pianos all at the same time
he's got a bit more time to deal with such things.

For myself I never bothered with the 24-bit yet, but that's
just because I haven't written a really good piano piece
lately...

Well yeah I have both those stix archives too. After
unstuffing them I have everything i expected to find
except the 16 bit instrument files. I admit to being
new to this and I'm wondering if I'm looking in the
wrong place or esle missing something obvious. What is
the name of the file where your's reside?

He's definitely a nice guy but last time I needed to
reach him it took 4 or 5 emails and over a month to
hear back.

Well I guess when you do, you'll be ready.

Thanks for the help, JP

I think the instrument file is the same one as the 24-bit one, you just
have to use EXS Manager to have the instrument address the 16-bit
samples instead of the 24-bit ones. It might be worth making two
copies of the instrument file (emperor16 and emperor24) and using
EXS Manager to connect the right one to the right library..?

I already tried tht Sonny and it didn't work. Just
white noise. The main patch is labeled "emperor full
24" so i don't think it is intended for 16 bit use.
I do appreciate your help but i think it's time to try
and reach Michiel.

OK Got it now. Just to set the record straight:
Michiel got back to me in an hour or two. Turns out
you were right Sonny. I was unaware that you must
corectly set a few reference options in the EXS.
(Michiel has them detailed on his website.) Made all
the difference. Thanks, again, JP
