OLD LADY CUT-OFF NOTES PROBLEM SOLVED

OLD LADY CUT-OFF NOTES PROBLEM SOLVED

2005-05-17 by Michiel Post PMI

Hi,

We found what is causing the note cut-off problem that is experienced
by several people with our Old Lady piano. There is a simple way to
overcome this:

- open the instrument in the EXS24 editor by clicking edit in the
right corner of the EXS24 screen

- in the editor, select all zones (option-A)

- select update selected zone(s) info from audiofile (the lowest
option in the zone menu)

- Logic will calculate for a few minutes

- and present the proposed changes

- click ok and Logic will execute the changes

- after completion, don't play but;

- save the instrument and exit Logic (!)

- restart Logic and load the instrument again.

Now the notes no longer cutt off

This is a temporary solution as new patches will be created that
avoid this method to elude Logic into using the samples as we
intended. For some strange reason EXS24 has some hidden parameters
that are not accecible for the developer (and user) containing
important info about the used samples (audio files). We need to fix
certain things in the process of our workflow to overcome these
limitations.

Hi Michiel. Good to hear from you.
Great news. Lot of us were waiting for this.
Didn't try it out yet, but I'm sure it will work.
Thanks.
Rob

Hi Michiel,

Thanks for getting back to us. I think there's quite a few here using
the Old Lady.

Do you mean command-A? option-A brings up Logic preferences.

Also, a couple of weeks ago you posted info about Old Lady updates on
your website.
Any chance of a link to the relevant page?

Thanks a lot
Andris

You can use the zone-menu function "select all" or the keyboard
command-
A.

We have a automated update website section here:
http://www.postpiano.com/support/listUpdates.php

Select the library you have (and the format like EXS) and you get a
page with all relevant updates and notes:
http://www.postpiano.com/support/allUpdates.php?id=154
is the direct link for OLD LADY EXS
 and
http://www.postpiano.com/support/allUpdates.php?id=156
the direct link for EMPEROR EXS

Thanks for the info, Michiel.

Just so you know, the excellent SAM Brass collection had the exact same
problem (and solution) with their EXS instruments.

So you did mean command-A? Also there's no "Select All" in the Zone
menu, it's in the Edit menu, sorry to nitpick but you have to with
computers.

I love the Old Lady and want to get it right.

Emperor missing sample

2005-07-27 by Julie Larson

Hi Michiel,
I updated the Emperor and used EXS manager. It still says I'm
missing a sample. EXS manager agrees. 31s emp A0.wav. Is there a
way to get this sample?

Thanks,
julie

I had the same problem, ended up getting a new disk from Michiel.
