Logic: After copy into other song EXS intrument is lost

Logic: After copy into other song EXS intrument is lost

2005-05-31 by laskartcom

Following situation:
Let's say You create a simple song like this in Logic (my current version is 6.4) :

1st Track: EXS Instrument :Guitar - 4 bars
2nd Track: EXS Instrument: Piano - 4 bars

Iet's say you really like this and decide to copy it into a different song. Of course you
want to keep the particular instruments.

I select those tracks and copy them into the clipboard. I load the "different " song and
paste those tracks to a certain position.
Everything is fine with one exception: the EXS instruments are EMPTY. Guitar and Piano
are gone .
Of course i tried to select those tracks ,created a folder and copied and pasted it :
Same Results.
May be somebody has an idea how to fix this.
Thanks so much to all of you
Best
Markus

The midi data is in the midi tracks but the instrument data is in the
environment objects.

You need to either copy the audio instruments from the old song to the new
song, or make new EXS audio instruments in your new song, and then load the
piano and guitar programs into the EXS.

There is no way to copy the instruments and tracks all together in one
operation.

If you upgrade to L7, you can create a channel strip setting from the
audio instrument track. This is like a single meta command that will
recall not only your EXS instrument, but also any plugins you may have
instantiated on the track as well. Of course the actual midi data still
has to be pasted in separately....... Unless you want to turn it into
an Apple loop; but that's another story.
