Akai conversion in OS 9.2.....

Akai conversion in OS 9.2.....

2005-06-23 by intense001

Hi all - I realize that this question is a "blast from the past", but
does anyone know how to keep a G4 from spitting out an Akai CD so
that I can use it in the EXS24? I'm using Logic 4.8.1 (don't laugh).

Open Logic.
Open an EXS instrument
Select the "Convert Akai CD" item in the EXS options menu
A window will open with various empty menus and the words written
across the top - "Waiting For Akai CD".
Now insert the Akai CD and you should be right from there....

Make sure you have something else to do, cause it takes bloody ages
(unless that has changed recently)

You could use other solutions like CDXtract or Translator. I think
they're faster.

Cheers

I've tried that, but as I'm waiting for Logic to read the disc (I
can hear it spin) then the computer spits the CD back out. Any
ideas?

Would the CD you tried with happen to be a multimode CD? I remember there being issues with those.

Sascha

I don't think so...they're the CD's that orgionally came with the Emu
EIV samplers - formatted for Akai S1000.

=)

Now WHY would Emu distribute Akai-formatted CD's? =) Sort of like Ford
putting GM engines in their cars.

They aren't formatted for Akai, they are Emu format. How are you informed
that they are Akai format?

If they are Emu format, the Mac should be spitting them out, neither the
Mac nor the Emagic convertor recognizes the format. Stupidly precise things
these computers are...

If they are Emu format, you can convert them into EXS-24 format using a
third party convertor - CDxtract www.cdxtract.com or Translator
www.chickensys.com/translator
