installing exs instruments and wav files problem.

installing exs instruments and wav files problem.

2005-11-08 by toddtacklebarhooth

dearest users-

I have another beginners problem with importing a 6 cd sampler
instrument/sample library into my sampler instrument folder.
I recently received 6 discs each containing certain sampler
instrument files such as guitars on one, drums on another, etc.
Each cd-rom contained a data file with the exs sampler instrument
and the corresponding wav files used by that instrument. I copied
each data file directly to my sampler instrument folder under
library/applicationsupport/logic and the exs24 in logic shows that
it recognizes them in it's instrument pull down window. But when I
try to play no sound comes out. I pushed the edit button, although
I don't really know how to set zones or regions, and noticed that
all of the audio files in each zone were empty. I don't understand
how all the files can be together in the sampler instrument folder
and not run smoothly. Do I need to set up an alias or am I
importing this completely wrong?
PLEASE HELP because i would like to use these samples as sound
fx/music for a movie as well as use in other musical creations.

To all that help I am forever grateful.
Todd

Doesn't this large 6 CD sample library have installation instructions? What
library is it?

received no instructions with it because it was a promotional bundle.
It contained a data file with all exs instruments and wav files
together inside.
I hope this helps. Thanks again for the interest.

.exs files need to find their sample data files, and this is done by an
absolute path that is stored within the .exs file itself. With commercial
libraries, undoubtedly they are unlinked since they don't know the names of
your drives etc.

Run Project Manager and that can update the links stored within those .exs
files - that should solve the issue.
