EXS Factory Samples to EXS24

EXS Factory Samples to EXS24

2006-02-25 by Jim Seaman

Hi,

By going Library/Application Support/Logic there is the Sampler
Instruments folder.
In the Sampler Instruments folder are the sampler instrument library
files in exs format.
I have no problem loading these into the EXS.
Also if going Library/Application Support/Logic there is the EXS
Factory Samples folder.
And in this folder are different instruments in aiff format than in the
Sampler Instruments folder.
I cannot load these aiff files into the EXS24 even if I put them into
the Sampler Instruments folder.
I haven't found any mention of this in the EXS24 mkII chapter of the
Pro 7 Plug-in Reference manual although it says that the EXS24 is
compatible with AIFF files.
Is this possible and if so, how is it accomplished?

Thanks for any enlightenment,
Jim

Those aiff files are the files that the sampler instruments are reading
when you load them in. You don't load aiff files directly into the EXS
24. They are referenced, or "read", by the sampler instruments. That's
the way this whole architecture works.

Howdy.. I was having issues as well, and found a solution.
First my apology for replying dayz later from your inquiry.

I find that it's important to keep all your Sample Instruments (.exs
files) on the same volume. I had the majority of my purchased and
shareware.exs files on one volume, and place an alias of that into my
\library\application support\logic\sampler instruments path and in
there was all the Apple ones (numbered)... Whenever switching from
sample instrument to sample instrument I would get messages about
missing this .aif file (while they were in a folder and listed as a
scan folder in Project Manager)..

To remedy this I took all the Apple Sample Instruments (folders 1-41)
and copied them to the other volume where all my personal ones were.
I created a folder on that volume called "Logic Sample Inst", made an
alias of that and copied it back into the \library\application
support\logic\sampler instruments path.

All fixed... Good Luck!

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
