Crossfading between two samples with modwheel

Crossfading between two samples with modwheel

2001-07-11 by billnineo@yahoo.com

hi,
Several sample cds come these days with the idea
that you should crossfade between two samples
by using the mod wheel. That is : as you move the
modwheel up you fade out one sample and fade in the other.
Ive tried the manual etc and cant see how to do this with exs24.
Is this possible with exs24 or do I have to go back
to my akai s3000 to use this effect.
Help appreciated!
Bill

It is not possible. That's why we're begging for it in the polls you see on
this list.

can be possible but HARDLY !!!!!
look :
Open an EXS with the first bunch of samples.
Open a second EXS with a bunch of sample.
Create a META Fader on the ModWeel.
Inverse function to have this :
when u turn the MODwheel UP one EXS volumeFader going down and the other one
going up....
Here ! u've got u'r Cross fade between 2 samples !!!!
my brain gonna burst ;o) is it playable ? NO !!!!! ha ha ha but it can
works....

nice idea Igor, but hardly practical on a daily basis!
Crossfading between samples has been possible on Akai samplers
for the last 7 years. It's rather odd that the German
Emagic programmers can't implement this on exs24!

Keep in mind that this is Emagic's first kick at the can. Akai's been at it
since the 80's. The next version will do quite a bit more I suspect. What
they've done though has been great and has helped me very much in my work.

Well (sounding a defense for harried programmers), the Akai's don't have a
billion things vi'ing for the CPU (or OS), and Akai designed the unit from
the ground up, whereas Emagic bows at the knees of JobsGates.

I'm excited to see what's gonna come up with Logic 5.0 - EXS 2.0 (or
whatever it's gonna be). I think the programming engine really lacks now,
but I bet that'll be rectified in some way soon.

I should get on the polls, but I would suggest that we ask for things that
aren't available yet, and that only emagic could do within the engine. (My
two cents)
