pitch bend

pitch bend

2006-05-08 by Tom Hammer

I'm triggering a bunch of different samples live in an exs instrument
and need to have some with no pitch bend and some with.
Is there a way to do that? I don't see any way at the moment. Thought
maybe in the groups but doesn't look like it.

thanks
tom

Nope, it's a global world we live in.

The best way to pitchbend particular notes is by using the
microtuning capability at SongSettings/Tuning in Logic Pro 7.

What I'm specifically trying to do is play a key that is triggering a
loop.
Then I want to play some other notes and move the pitchbend wheel to
make those notes
pitchbend while the loop still plays and doesn't pitchbend.
This is for a live situation.
Gettting the feeling it can't be done within a exs instrument.
Unless I could have 2 exs instruments being played at the same time.
One with pitchbend active and one without.
Note sure how to accomplish that.
Probably cabling in the environment???

thanks

You're right; you'd use two EXS instruments paying at the same time.

One thing that would really help the EXS would be a "Bank format" and
functionality that would allow several Instrument to be loaded in one
screen or command. Sort of like the Parts in MachFive.

That would IMMEDIATLY open up lots of textural possibilities and tear
down the limitations of EXS (different modulators for certain sample
sets, the ability to have velocity splits and controller xfades
simultaneously, etc.).
