Can anyone help? I am new on here and to Logic, reading an article in
Compter Music, it is saying to load a sample(s) of drum beats into it then
assign them to midi keys.

Should be reasonably straight forward, just hit the "edit" button in the EXS, make a zone and load a sample into it.
Unless of course you have Logic Express, instead of Logic Pro, which has the playback only version, and editing (including loading samples) is impossible. (EXS-P).

If you do have express and want to edit exs sounds have a look at Keymap, this is a stand-
alone exs24 editor from Redmatica.
