E-mu & Roland conversion...

2007-04-29 by john

Hi folks,

I am sorry for approaching you directly, as I am sure somewhere
in the vaults of this groups lies the answer, but, I was too
lazy to go through thousands of messages.

Anyway... my problem is this:

I got a whole load of Emu ad Roland sample cd's with my sampler a
few years back. But, as I am increasingly more often using my Mac
Book Pro with Logic Pro 7 and its sampler, I been wondering if
there is a possibility to convert Emu and ROland samples into EXS
format or into any format that Logic reads. Managed to convert all
my Akai cd's perfectly though.

Yes, I know there are converters... have just not had very good
experiences with them...

Cheers.

Anxious John.

You have to use a third-party convertor, Emagic/Apple didn't provide
this loading capability.

I work for one of the companies, Translator www.chickensys.com ours
works quite well and we have lots of satisfied people. If you ever
have problems you can always call our 800 TollFree line, send an
email, or send in a report and we address things immediately.

I got this email this morning as a matter of fact:

"years ago i bought and happily used your product to transslate emu
samples to my logic exs24. now i have an intel based macbook and want
to know if the current translator product is compatible with my
computer. i'm in the middle of a project that will pay my rent and
would just love a response at your earliest convenience. thanks very much."

(the answer was yes, btw)

Re: [EXS] E-mu & Roland conversion... PT. II

Hi Garth,

Thanks for your swift reply.

After having considered all the options, I think chickensys. is
probably not such a bad thing. I will keep you posted as to what
the results are.

Cheers.

John.

PS No chance the software will do the same with an audio only
sample cd I have of the Fairlight CMI MK II Library? (It consists
of audio-tracks with each track again consisting of various samples
(approx. 700 all together), which, thrown into an audio-editor, can
be cut and chopped and edited and send to your sampler... but... I
never got around to manually separate every sample... too laborious
a task... )
No, didn't think so.

Hope it helps.

Think so. =)

The Windows version (not in the Mac yet) will rip tracks off an Audio
CD, look for gaps in the audio (given user-set parameters on min time
and threshold) and separate the audio into discreet chunks, and
convert them into EXS24 in one shot.

Our upcoming Constructor program will do this with a couple of cool
twists as well.

Dear Garth,
I have been looking for the opportunity to convert my yamaha A-series
samples to exs. Appearently Translator does not feature this at the
moment, but will it perhaps some time?
Hig.

Yes! In fact we just put it into the Windows version. It will slide
into the Mac version when the big update is finished.

BTW, I put in a neat feature recently - Logic 6 and 5.5 Windows can't
load the GarageBand type .exs instruments. We put in a feature that
converts them into 6.0/5.5 compatible files, while still allowing
them to go into GB.
