Creating looped samples

Creating looped samples

2008-04-08 by Hans Hafner

Hi there,

this is not a question concerning the EXS or creating sample
instruments for the EXS!

I know this is a sort of stupid question, but apparently Wavelab can
write the crossfade needed for a smooth loop directly into an
audiofile. Is there a software for the Mac that can do the same?

I am _not_ producing samples for the EXS and I know that the EXS can
crossfade, this is definitely _not_ the question here!!! But since
there are a couple of very knowledgeable sample producers on this
list maybe someone knows of a solution for the Mac.

Thanks and best
Hans

Hans, you may want to check out Loop Editor:
http://www.audiofile-engineering.com/loopeditorplus/index.php
The download is working unlicensed as well (I'm almost sure at least,
haven't tried the new "Plus" version yet), licensing it allows for further
features to be used.

In case one needs more sophisticated features, Redmaticas "Keymap" is
defenitely where it's at.

Regards
Sascha

Thanks, I'll check that out.

I have Keymap, but I'm not creating samples nor instruments for the
EXS but for another instrument that isn't exactly a sampler, more
like a rompler, that's why I need the loop information written into
the file.

Thanks and best
Hans

... and Keymap will do that too, i.e. it can:
- render crossfades
- add loop data to sample files
- add mapping data to sample files
- ...

well then... shows what I know!

Will check that out!

I'm pretty sure keymap can do this, and you already have it! Its almost a shame keymap is
sold so heavily as an exs editor, as it works really well as an audio file 'fixer'
