That's it.
And from what I know, all versions of CDxtract that I had a look at didn't
do so (but the last time is a bit ago, so they may have integreated that
into the latest versions). I don't know about Translator, never seen or even
tried it out.
From what I can tell this feature even works pretty good on some CDs - I
once converted Wizoo's "Magnetica" where you'll find a lot of patches
splitted into velocity zones, each originally adressed by a seperate program
and channel, the EXS merged them just fine into one instrument.
Unfortunately (at least for this approach) many drum CDs are layed out in a
different manner, you may find yourself with doubled sounds per key pretty
often - at least that's what I experienced.

That's a new feature in the latest release from CDxtract 3.6, named 
"Merge Programs". I never tried it, but it should work.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
