Hi Ned and EXS junkies,

Thanks for your replies about trying to solve this problem. This is what I
tried first. It seems pretty clear that there is no acceptable solution. The
latency this way is horrendous, and it isn't practical for our application to
have to have Logic in play mode while playing live. I found that you can also
accomplish the same result by record enabling two Audio Instrument tracks,
but you still have to be in play and the latency is no good.

Bummer! Guess I'll have to try VSTi Host on another computer or something.

Thanks for the effort guys...

So does everyone think the multiple outs shown in the beta 5.2 at
MusikMesse will make EXS more suitable for live playing? Will
everyone just have to create massive EXS instruments to load into one
instance of EXS and then set up all the separate layers to go to
multiple outs -- the same limitation of having to have the VSTi track
selected & have Logic in Play mode will still exist, right? So for
example a massive multi-timbral EXS24 instance couldn't peacfully
coexist with multiple instances of Eric's new VST instruments, having
multiple VSTi tracks being controlled live?

With the Midiman Surface One coming out soon, the Roland HPD15
already available, and a new touch & velocity sensitive MIDI
controller (AKAI PD15 I think is the name) announced recently... It
would really be a shame to have all these awesome touch sensitive
controllers be crippled by only being able to control one virtual
instrument at a time.

I guess by the time I can actually afford a few of those controllers
it'll probably be fixed though... ;-)

I agree...I think it is a major limitation of logic. Cubase can do it fine,
as can DP.....arrrgh.

Its even frustrating the way you only have audio in logic on one instrument.
Our new modules have a Preview button which is very handy for sorting out
what you doing....course it only works on the selected track in Logic, but
works perfectly on every other host.

all those stuff are working good on 5.1...
try to have latest version of Logic to prepare VSTi Instruments...
after u gonna said again : " it's logic, etc..."
Multi Outs work on Beta 2 perfectly.....
