Hey, I'm playing a Yamaha midi keyboard through my mixer using a GINA audio card. I get a slight delay as I play the EXS24. I press the note on the keyboard and I hear the note come in slightly late. I'm sure this is a common thing but I'm new to midi. Does anyone know how I can cut down on that delay? Is there a way to optimize the settings for the GINA card? Could it be my keyboard isn't good enough to use as a MIDI controller? (It's a cheap Yamaha PSR 262) Thanks, Joe

On Mac, you can play the EXS24 through Mac AV and it's instant. I don't know if there's an equivalent on PC. If you use an ASIO driver, you could try tweaking the buffer size and other parameters for lower latency. Regards - Colin

Afaik there is no internal standard sounddriver in windows, it all depends on your audio hardware. So play around with latency and buffer size settings - if this wont do the trick for you, probably nothing will. regards monsdrum

It's not exactly instant - there is a low latency there on a mac. Not being proficient on keys - only using a midi keyboard to trigger drum loops and phrases - I have not found this a problem. However, when I have accomplished keys players trying to play through a mac (G3 Powerbook, G3 & G4 Desktop, & Imac) into logic (to the EXS24, EVP88, ES1) they always complain about the latency and ask me if I can fix it because it puts them off. I can't find the relevant buffer settings anywhere to lower the Mac AV latency - does anybody have any suggestions? ------------------------------------------------------------------- Nick Loe Web Developer / Music Producer SAS, 6 Salem Road, London W2 4BU T: +44 (0)20 7243 3232 F: +44 (0)20 7243 3216 E: nloe@... ------------------------------------------------------------------- The UK's most popular property website just got better.
