Uh, "we think so..." what? You think what? You didn't answer the question. I'm interested in member feedback to this question as well, especially if the solution can be ported over to the exs.

Check out Eric's message Wed 01/30/2002 5:18 AM: he said that the samples used in the new instruments could -not- be directly ported over to EXS.

I listened through them in some shop where they had them converted to EXS and I didn't find most of them too great. But maybe that's just my taste or they didn't convert too well. I don't know about any other dedicated CD. As I would like some nice pads as well I might concentrate on finding a few samples to construct my own, but I allways found it hard to do rich pads by using samples as finding proper looppoints, especially on evolving/moving pads, isn't exactly easy. Right... April, sure I can wait that long. :-| How about making me a beta tester, wink-wink nudge-nudge. Let's redirect this question, what sample libraries (that can be imported to the EXS24) are available at this time that list members might really like to use as high quality pads. I have a lot of work to do before April.

Thanks Sascha. That's the idea, to bad it wasn't a great disc.

Little bit of a workaround but Absynth creates great Pads, and you can record to audio a multisample of your creations (from the standalone application) and create an EXS instrument, or use it as a VST instrument. For the price of a good sample CD you get an amazing Softsynth. The presets and user created patches available online have some great pads already. I have a lot of work to do before April. DR1, DR2 and Bizarre Guitar are our most popular Pads and Ambient oriented sample libraries. (none of this stuff will be on Atmosphere BTW) Of course there are beautiful Vocal pads on SOV too: http://www.spectrasonics.net/distortedreality.html http://www.spectrasonics.net/distortreality2.html http://www.spectrasonics.net/bguitar.html http://www.spectrasonics.net/symphonyvoices.html Shameless plugging I know, but you wouldn't be dissapointed with any of these. -EP

What do you think of these? http://www.saschafranck.de/exs/LargePad1.zip I like this one quite a lot, unfortunately there's a fifth in the sample so it doesn't fit for all chordtypes. But to my ears this sounds pretty rich. http://www.saschafranck.de/exs/dawn.zip Rather basic, I use it every now and then though. Two patches inside, one is very basic (tip: add some Ensemple to it) and one is L/R detuned. Both of them are quick shots I made using copyright free samples you can find on the web easily (for example on those rather large soundfont sites). If anybody likes, I could post a bunch more of them, but as I'm still only on a modem connect it might take a while - good pads usually are rather large. Regards, Sascha

I'll check it out. And thanks, Eric, for the interim suggestion.

Hi Sascha --- In exs-users@y..., "Sascha Franck" <saschafranck@s...> wrote: > What do you think of these? > http://www.saschafranck.de/exs/LargePad1.zip > http://www.saschafranck.de/exs/dawn.zip Thanks once again for sharing your stuff. The samples are great each in their own way. You have nailed the loop points well which, as you stated yourself earlier, is quite difficult with evolving samples. Kind regards, Soren Riis-Vestergaard

Allthough Distorted Reality is a great library, it is also aging fast as many people have bought and used it on everything from Aleve commercails to corporate presentations . If you want fresh pad sounds I suggest that you rent a bunch of old synths like the Arp2600 and Roland Jupiter 6 and sample them through some vintage equipment. Also look for a guitar with good sustain and get an e-bow and play around with a few Boss pedals putting them in different order etc. After that you can try and run your recordings thru applications like metasynth etc. This will create a library of sounds that are yours and yours alone. That way your sound will be more personal and original. --- In exs-users@y..., "yael" <yael@n...> wrote: > Hi all, > I'm looking for beautiful Pads, not too analog but very smooth and large....
