Giga vs. Yahama 256...

Giga vs. Yahama 256...

2002-02-12 by Danny

Someone asked earlier about a comparison between the Giga Piano and the
ftp://ftp.akaipro.co.jp 256 piano... (the a.pf 256M) It was either here or on
the LUG page...

I am only giving a subjective comparison. After all, that is the reason we have
so many 'soft' pianos to choose from. Everyone has their own opinion...

I prefer the Giga Piano a bit over the ftp://ftp.akaipro.co.jp 256. The Giga
just sounds a bit more 'natural'. The downloaded piano sounds a bit more 'harsh'
but it still holds up very well considering the sample size differences.

BTW, I do have a 6 foot Yamaha grand here that I use here. The Giga Piano sounds
the closest to the Yamaha compared to any piano samples that I heard thus far. I
have one of the latest Cloakley's pianos CD also. Again, the Giga Piano is
better to my ears than the Cloakley. I also have a couple of other smaller piano
sample sets. Now most of the music I work with is classical so I don't prefer a
loud piano preset.

These are all I have here for comparison which is not a lot but someone asked...
