Yo', here's the text from the included readme file. Btw, the d/l is minimal, only 22 kb. rgds, Bj\ufffdrn Elfstr\ufffdm ******************************************************************** VSM (Virtual Sample Memory) Since version 5.0.0 Logic supports Virtual Sample Memory (VSM) for the EXS24. Thanks to VSM, the EXS24 can play back audio files of practically any size. The in-depth documentation and the necessary system file can be found in the download section of www.emagic.de. If your computer is connected to the internet during installation, these files will automatically be installed. VSM Manager (Virtual Sample Memory) The VSM Manager extension adds virtual memory management to the EXS 24: The VSM Manager utilizes an intelligent algorithm that keeps "most recently used data" in RAM and sources out "data that is not used anymore" to hard disk. Using this technology, the EXS 24 can play back samples of practically any size. The VSM Manager is installed into the computer's operating system. Engage Active to enable the virtual sample memory. Under "General Settings" you'll find the Disk drive speed is parameter. Select Slow, Medium or Fast. The default is Medium. Dependent on how many tracks you play back and record simultaneously, you can inform the virtual memory about your Harddisk recording activity. You can select Less, Average or Extensive. The default is Average. As Logic also performs hard disk recording duties, this parameter is important for the playback/recording of audio tracks, and should be adjusted on a per-song basis. On occasion, you'll have songs with minimal hard disk recording activity, but with numerous audio instruments, including multiple EXS 24 instruments. In this scenario, you should choose Less. Both parameters should be left at their defaults, unless you experience problems (see below). Requires constant RAM allocation of This display informs you of the amount of memory which is constantly required by the virtual memory management. The value shown may change when altering the general settings listed above. Performance Under "Performance" you'll see Disk I/O traffic: Could not get data in time: These two fields monitor the basic traffic to/from the disk. If the "Could not get data in time:" field shows a numerical value, your disk is probably too slow-or-too much harddisk playback/recording is going on. In this case, you may need to change the "general settings". Apply Apply refreshes all virtual memory management functions/indicators and clears the error count field. A "refresh" should not be done during playback. En/disabling the virtual memory management or making changes to the general settings require that the Apply button be pressed. Applying a new setting may take a while. Ok closes the window. If changes are made, Ok will perform in the same fashion as Apply. ******************************************************
