Can someone else check this?

I am unable to get into the download area for the Akai sample library
today with an error regarding the permissions being thrown up each
time I attempt to connect.

I was halfway through the Splendid Piano last night when this occurred.

If this is so, then it would seem to cast some doubt on the copyright
of the library. Maybe it was never meant for public consumption!

But I can get as far as the 'Downloads' folder!

I wouldnt be surprised if they have taken it down given how many people
have hammered it recently...

Due to this fact guys I am pulling down the exs conversion files from my
page.

Sorry, but there are some people out there with them. I have to cover
myself.
We are just getting up and running as a business. The last thing I need
now is even the threat of a law suit from someone like Akai.

I still think that the smaples are probably copyright free as they were
freely available on the site but *just in case* down they come.

Does anyone have a site that could host some of the wav files? If its not a
copyright infringement...

I think everyones kind of lost the plot over this one. If you abandon
fetch/ie/netscrape and use a real mans command line FTP client you will see a
conversation something like this :

[dpeverley@burton dpeverley]$ ftp ftp.akaipro.co.jp
Connected to ftp.akaipro.co.jp.
220 APMI FTP Service Ver.1.00 ready.

I hope this should make sense even to the non-technical among you :-)

Logical hypothesis : They've been hit by many sample starved Akai heads and
found their bandwidth lacking and are upgrading to cope?

BTW, I managed to pull down the MPC kits and put them on my MPC2000. Very
nice. I've only had it a few days, and they're certainly the nicest kits I've
played with so far!

Me too. I only posted them last night but I've taken them down for
now. I'm 99.9% sure it was OK to have them there but I'm not
willing to be one who finds out! This is over-reaction I know.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
