what do you mean "copy it inside, don't drag it only"? what's the difference? I will look for the search preferences of the EXS, thanks a lot for the tip. what's the "DW"? I ran Norton, nothing's corrupt as far as I know. Teddy ****************** DW means download..... When it's an Extension it needs to be copied in the folder, if it is just drag, there is a kind of "link" inside the mac... igor

Igor, you've lost me on this one. I'm a very experienced Mac user, and I don't know what you are talking about. Option-dragging is synonymous with copying, option+command-dragging makes an alias, and dragging moves a file. I've never had a problem with extensions relating to this issue in my life, and I've used Macs for over 7 years.

From: HELP@... ****************** As I know, on Mac, when u move something ( Folder, extensions, prgms...), the Mac just remember a position from another position but in background, this is totally invisible for the user... that's why, sometime, u need to rebuilt the desktop... some "link" can be corrupt, or simply forgotten... It's a kind of "alias" but manage by the MacOS itself, it's not a copy, because a copy will double the prgm...( if u move 10ko, u always have 10ko but with a new "way", if u copy it, u will have 20ko less on u'r HD and the mac knows where is the prgm...) This was teach me by a friend few years ago, maybe it wrong (?)... Igor

You are speaking about directory structure then, right? The directory catalog just points to different places. If you move an item, it points to the new location? I get the impression you disagree slightly with the simplicity of this statement, so perhaps you know something I don't. How did you hear about this behind-the-scenes stuff you are talking about? -Jer

Maybe it's not the same now with all those OS upgrade... we need an Apple programmer on that point :o) igor

I move, not copy, but move all necessary extensions into the extensions folder. They work, life is good. JR
