[LAMP] How many EXS24's + ES1's can you run before CPU craps out?

[LAMP] How many EXS24's + ES1's can you run before CPU craps out?

2002-02-22 by Colin McLean

I recently started using Logic and only now get around to using
the EXS24 and ES1. I know that theoretically it's possible for
Logic Platinum to run up to 24(?) EXS24's at once, but I'm not
sure what I should expect from my fairly modest system - Mac G3
350Mhz with 384Mb RAM using ASIO audio driver.
If I run 2 EXS24's and 1 ES1 through a couple of [Logic native]
plug-ins I get a CPU overload. Is this about as good as it gets
with the setup I have or can anyone suggest any tweaks I can
make to improve performance?

Also interested to know how many EXS24's and ES1's other Mac
users are managing to run.

Colin.

Have a look here...

http://www.digitalnaturalsound.com/logic_dsp/perform.shtml

It compares perofrmance of different systems with Emagic FX plugins.
Although not explicity comparing EXS/ES1 performance it might tell
you if your system is performing well.
