I think I wrote it up o my Logic FAQ page at www.pev.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk -
basically it involves stipping the data partition from the CD with your fave
Mac/win/whatever cdr prog and rewriting to a CDR.

Hi Dave

Thanks for replying

Your web page doesn't contain data I can read - trying to open the
download prompted a message about the item containing no data. Any
chance you could elaborate, or explain how to use your webpage?

Cheers

1. Open web browser and go to http://www.pev.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk
2. On the front page there click the link "Logic FAQ HTML v0.15"
3. Read the FAQ.
Sorry to sound sarcastic! ;-) It should be that simple - its all just HTML.
It uses CSS so it may be wierd on old (generation 3) browsers, but I doubt
it... I have tested it using IE4,IE5,IE6,Opera5,Opera6,Netscape4,Netscape6
on Windows, IE on macos 9, IE and omniweb on MacOSX and opera6 on linux and
it seems to display fine. What browser/OS are you using? It shouldnt be a
'download' it should just be a normal webpage!

FYI, the actual FAQ entry is :

2.5.2 Trouble Importing Mixed Mode Akai CDs

As it stands, the EXS can't recognize an Akai/audio (mixed-mode) CD-ROM, but
there is a relatively simple work-around:

- Use a program like CD-Copy to extract the Akai CD-ROM section and save it
to your hard drive as a disc image file.

- Use Toast (or some other CD application) to write that disc image to a CD.

- You now have an Akai-only CD-ROM that the EXS will happily read.

Pevs note :

Theres a rumor that this problem is due to a certain newer version of the
Apple CD/DVD driver. Apparently it may work fine if you revert to the old
CD/DVD driver (1.3.9) but I've heard reports that this both does and does
not work! The burning trick does seem to work in all cases though.

This carbon lib 1.39 does definitely work, and it can be found in the files
section of the lug site.

Hi Dave et al

Many thanks for the info - but this is the description I have
previously seen. Isn't CD-Copy a windows program? Is there a mac app
that does the same thing (perhaps that's how I should have phrased my
question in the first place!!)

No, Astarte CDCopy is mac. Toast could do the job nicely I'd expect but I've
never tried. Feel free to email me privately or ICQ me tonight (GMT-wise!) if
you need further help.

I'm not sure if your question has been answered yet, but as I recall
the solution is to turn off the Foreign File Access extension. I had
the same problem once when using Unity, and a user instructed me to
do this and it worked like a charm.

Let everyone know if this works for you.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
