I know this is a basic question, but I've never found the EXS24 to be
intuitive with regard to this specific question. How do I allow the filter
cuttoff to open up on heavy velocity and close up on soft velocity? Yes, I
see the velocity to ADSR, that's not at all the same thing. I NEED the
filter to open on hard velocity and close on the soft. I'll name my first
born after the first person who can explain plainly and simply how this can
be done. OK, rather I'll really, really, really "appreciate" the first
person who can... -Jer

it is simple :
1 / cable an INSTRUMENT in a Transformer.
2/ cable the Transformer in the EXS
open the Transformer and do this :
STATUS : Note
CHA: all ( or what u want...)
Pitch : Inside ( and apply from ... to ... what u want G-2 to G8 :o) to have
a full range of notes)
next line :
Fix : control
Thru
FIX: 89 ( this is the Filter CC of the EXS)
Thru

That's all.
enjoy

Ooops I forgot, the Transformer have to be in:
"copy matchings events & apply operations "
igor

PS: I don't know how to have a filter Range, it can be usefull.... if someone know how to :o)

Uh-Oh! I see another "Sascha" in this world one day(too bad most native
english speakers can't even pronounce it right, but I'm sure people will
find a nice nick for your kid...).
Anyways, just click on the "001011" button (or enter "Control" mode) and set
whatever value fits your needs under "Filter via Vel". This does exactly
what you're asking for (too bad there's no "inverse" mode, in that case
Igor's approach might be the best). Apart from that I do indeed prefer the
"ADSR via Vel" function for most things.

Sascha

Great work-around. But this should be a native feature. Isn't there anyway
to do this in the EXS24 patch. Going to the environment is not what I had in
mind. Good to know about though. -Jer

Lot easier way to do this is to use the Filter Envelope , set the Sustain
high and the high/low velocity sliders in the EXS...really easy to do.

Just thought I edit out all the stuff that may confuse you, and
make it a little easier to understand. This is the straight ahead
way, you should use, unless you just like going around your ass to
get to your elbow. This simple task is built right into the EXS, just
as Sascha has explained.

Sasha, you are beautiful (and I truly appreciate you ;). I see what your
talking about. It's also on the editor display mode, but heavily hidden away
under Options, Additional Parameter, Velocity Offset (default at 0%). Thanks
a billion! -Jer

I meant to say "Filter Via Velocity," not "Velocity Offset." -Jer

Freakin' awesome! My imported strings never sounded so good:

Filter Cutoff = 50%
Filter Via Vel = 50%
Level via Vel = 100%
Amp Attack = 0ms
Amp Att. Via Vel = 9384.8ms

Now we're talking expression! Sascha, I've wanted to do this for months.
Again, thanks! -Jer

FREE EXS24 STRINGS

2002-04-26 by HELP@MusicBootCamp.com

Since Sascha was kind enough to answer my prayers for velocity/filter
linking, I have decided to post the final results for your pleasure. So here
is a simple, yet pretty usable string instrument that I programmed for the
EXS24. It's also a small way to give back to the community that has helped
me out considerably. Hope you enjoy it! -Jer

To clear up any concerns by timid downloaders and copyright police out
there, rest assured this is a free and clear instrument:

EXS24 Samplenet Strings (a ZIP archive utility is required to open this file
such as Stuffit Expander for Mac or PC). The file is roughly 10.3 MB, and is
derived from samples available for free and without restriction from
www.samplenet.co.uk, and I quote, "Q. Can I use the samples on my
recordings? A. Of course! All of SampleNet's samples are copyright free."
Need I say more? Please don't ask me if this is a legal download. I will not
bother to respond. Have fun!!!
