Emu Support/PlugIn Automation/organize instruments

Emu Support/PlugIn Automation/organize instruments

2001-01-22 by mofateam@gmx.de

I guess this might have been discussed, but maybe I missed something
so please could you help?
1. Is there Emu-support in 4.7? All of my "homegrown" samples are in
this format...
2. Is there a workaround to automate FX on audioinstruments except
putting them on a bus? I want to have them in the inserts.
3. Which is now the best/most overviewable way to organize a large
library?
Thanks in advance!

I doubt emagic will support anything within EXS itself besides Akai.

Hi

They just announced EXS for TDM, which shows that they're really investing a
lot of time in this product. I would be very surprised if Emagic didn't open up
the great EXS sampler to other formats.

No, but why would emagic put that in now when there are at least two
programs that can do it already? Seems a waste of resources.

I know that this answer sounds self-serving, but I say it much more out of
knowing the industry than my company's personal gain. There are a couple
reasons why emagic would want to put it in (having it standard and free
would attract people to the program), but figuring out these formats -
especially Emu's, considering the proprietary disk format and the 3-4
different file formats they've had - is a heck of undertaking.

Yes, I perfectly agree with Garth! Using Translator myself, all I can say
is that it\ufffds very reliable, easy to use and a very good tool.

It especially supports some very "exotic" file formats like Ensoniq to EXS-24
which is not covered by any other software yet in existance!

The best part is, that Translator can access even ZIP drives etc. so it\ufffds
very easy to convert sounds. Currently I have converted most of my Ensoniq
stuff to EXS-24 and nearly 80% of them sound better now than played through
the ASR-10 :-)

Personally I believe that Emagic will support a few more common formats in
the future, simply because they have *promised* it as a basis for selling
the EXS-24. But I would not expect them to have as much formats as
Translator.

All the best
Thomas
