Hello everyone! As a new member of the group I was wondering if there are any good sites where I can start to build up my sample and instrument collection for my EXS24. I got the Akai site which took ages to download but has been a fantastic find. Thanks in advance anyone who takes the time to answer this! Graham Wilson.

Hendrik,
Now to earn your free meals, we have to keep you working :-)
What are some of the best sites you've found, or particular sample sets with
the best quality?
Theres so much stuff, it would be nice to get some recommendations on the
best free stuff...

No idea.... It was Sascha Frank who collected most of these sites and having bought the EXS only a couple of weeks ago, I haven't had reason or opportunity to check them out myself yet. So that's costing me another lunch I guess, right? :-) -- Hendrik Jan Veenstra <h@...> Omega Art: http://www.ision.nl/users/h/index.html

Should keep you busy for a while... Hendrik, do you mind if I blatantly plaguarise your list of links and add them to my FAQ site? That's what I initially did as well with Sascha's list. And besides, I don't think there's such a thing as copyright on hyperlinks, is there? :-) -- Hendrik Jan Veenstra <h@...> Omega Art: http://www.ision.nl/users/h/index.html

While I haven't prioritized these links that much, their order is somewhat
important--particularly the first 5 or so. But I've strived to include only
links to sites I thought offered good sample sources. I also have a tendency
to emphasize sites that offer actual sounds rather than loops because I feel
it encourages greater independent creativity; however, I have friends that
blend loops very effectively and uniquely, a rare skill in my opinion.
Personally, I like to construct all my drum loops from scratch. Suffice it
to say, there are several good loop links on my site as well.

I thought the anti-decss lawyers use some sort of argument like that using the DMCA to legally stop people linking to DeCSS? Thoughts from the mind of No Such User, 05-07-2002: >PC users have never had the joy of SuperCollider, Max/MSP, th0nk >0+2, Metasynth, AudioMulch, SoundHack, Cellsynth and until recently >Absynth... I know them all except SuperCollider. Just checked it out yesterday and... wow!... this is an amazingly cool piece of software. If you're into programming and music, this is a dangerous time-waster if ever I've seen one :-) Don't know if I should say "thanks for the hint", or "no thanks for probably taking away yet another few weeks of my life" :-)) And what about AudioMulch: as far as I can see it's PC-only, and not Mac? -- Hendrik Jan Veenstra <h@...> Omega Art: http://www.ision.nl/users/h/index.html
