SAM's Upcoming French Horn Library

SAM's Upcoming French Horn Library

2002-07-14 by Ned Bouhalassa

... IF the rumoured GIGA-import function in the
EXS upgrade works properly, and
... IF EXS ever implements some of the
key-switching possibilities found in GIGAsampler,
then we can play with this kind of library:

http://www.projectsam.com/

Check out their demos - really.

Just when I thought I was done buying sound
libraries in '02.

Did anybody download their free stuff?
Still being on a modem here, so I'd like to know if these patches are worth
it before I start bothering.

Regards,
Sascha

Impressive.

Hey Sascha,

Last time I tried (a week ago), the download speed
was much, much too sllllooooowwwww. It seems that
their mp3 demos are on a different, faster server
than their free samples. That said, if the timpani
or trumpets are anything like the french horns, it
might be worth the long wait.

I downloaded "SAM Trumpet Section TEST.gig" within one hour.
120mb =fast for me (dsl)
I don´t have CDXtract or Translator yet so I could only listen to the raw
samples from within CDXtracts demo.
It was hard to tell if it is worth the effort to download from what I heard.
Maybe.

By the way.
If they have no other reason, I think Apple should consider continue
developement for Windows for one reason only...................

And that is: Sascha Frank

I got the 120Mb trumpet gig zip file overnight on a 56 k modem.
The samples are quite pleasing to me so far and I played trumpet for quite
some years
-- if that counts for anything ;-)

If you have GigaStudio you can export them and make EXS instruments or
whatever.
Perhaps those of you with LAWP 5.2 can already use Gig files etc.

There are 7 different articulations in the set -- in GigaStudio you can use
keyswitches (C1 - F#1) to select between the articulations.

Murray
