EXS 24 Logic Sampler Users Group

Eli,

That's a useful point of view. I have just bought a GigaStudio system and I
am currently evaluating what I will be using the EXS 24 for. I think it will
work best in conjunction with REX files and in using its filter section with
samples of other synthesizers. I would be interested in your opinion in this
matter.

Do you have any clues about the Sound Forge/Altiverb differences?

You are correct in that it is currently not possible. You never know what's in
store for the future, but it sure doesn't seem like it would be a simple thing
to add without a major re-working of the current EXS 24 paradigm.

I know several people with Gigastudio setups (I don't have one yet though). From
what I know of it (as a spectator), you are much better of using it rather than EXS
24 for large orchestral libraries and traditional standard "sample triggering". If
you can, run a lightpipe out from your PC soundcard to your Logic sound card. That
way you can route the Gigastudio audio stream into Logic digitally through the live
input objects. This is a very elegant soloution.

The EXS 24 is useful as you described above. Also for instruments that you want to
specifically individually process with plugins. Because your Gigiastudio will get
routed in bulk into Logic via 8 or so channels; it doesn't make it easy to process
individual instruments without printing the midi as audio first.

I'm on a Mac and so unfortuatily don't have any experience with SoundForge. I hear
the Altiverb kicks some serious butt though.
