As I mentioned in the past, the The Grand does not function properly in
Logic. I haven't tested it in 5.2 yet, but it failed miserably in 5.1.
Regardless, you'll be much better off with the EXS version.

The Grand now for EXS

2002-08-30 by Eli Krantzberg

Hey All,

More sample CD news for us EXSers:

 http://www.harmony-central.com/Newp/2002/Platinum24-Grand-Piano.html

It seems Wizoo is releasing a double CD Rom set of piano samples from
the ones used in Steinberg's "The Grand" VSTi. It is coming in, among
other formats, EXS format! I wonder how it will stack up to the VSTi
version. It seems to be reasonably priced at $139 US.

The Grand works fine with Logic. It's just really hungry. You need
a very fast processor and lots of memory. I'm running it on a 1.5
Ghz P4 with 1 Gb of memory. That said this is the best sounding
computer based piano I've ever heard. The feature I love the most
is sympathetic resonance effect you get when you hold the sustain
pedal down. I doubt this can be recreated with just EXS based
samples alone. I would guess there's some special code in the Grand
VST plug-in to get this to work.

It has serious sustain and ASIO problems on my dual 800Mhz Mac. Admittedly,
you've got more horsepower, but my computer should be adequate and it's not.
I have 1.5 MB of RAM.

I agree. It should run great with that. Sounds like a Steinberg
problem with their Mac version. I hope they fix it. Maybe it's
only optimized for the P4? I had the same problem with my old 400
Mhz G3.
