Subject: [exs] Installation problem

I purchased the ESX24 and attempted to install it last night.
Here's what happens:

I load the installation CD and it asks me to click which
version of Logic I have. I don't click them because I have
Platinum 5.3.0 (for os9). (Based on the information during
**************

For 5.3 there is NO CD to install...
you need a code send you by Emagic and this code will be on your Xskey.
How can you ignore that ? if you have a 5.3 ??

The installer installs the base-sounds you get with the EXS. You
don't need the installer to get the samples -- they're on the CD, and
you can copy them to your samples directory. However, the installer
*does* unpack the *.exs files belonging to the samples.

Maybe someone can send "antcinq" <antcinq@...> the exs
instruments from the EXS-install? Just a few kb... I would do it
myself if I didn't have to leave the house in a few minutes...

You know, I wish somebody from Emagic would weigh in here, once and for all.
I struggled with this same issue, as did, I believe, you, Hendrik. The
issue: could the EXS files perhaps be posted in the files section?

I do not know what the problem would be with this approach because such
files would only be useful to somebody with a legitimate copy of the EXS
program/key. Nevertheless, an official proclamation is needed as you stated
months ago because Emagic MIGHT have a problem with such a posting.

Yes, correct. I was only able to install tyem by pointing the
installer to an old copy of LA4 I still had on my HD...

I find it quite embarrassing that this problem is still around. It's
a 1st class f*-up to distribute such an installer worldwide imo, and
it's even worse that no-one from Emagic has ever responded to this.

Yes, agreed...

Oh, and to antcinq: did someone already send you the exs files?

As Hendrik Jan said, you only need these, the samples are on the CD.
(the second file is for the patches coming with the additional CD in case
you sent back your registration card)

Best,
Sascha
