To make the samples available to multiple-platform users.

Some audio mastering/editing programs allow you to extract audio from a CD,
converting it to WAV (PC) or AIFF (Mac). Many of these programs also allow
you to quickly divide the audio "phrases" in to "regions" and batch export
them to separate files you can then import into the EXS. For Mac, use Peak.
For PC... sorry you'll have to ask around. I know a lot about PCs, but not
which audio programs function in these ways. My PC friends like SoundForge a
lot.

Audio format

This might be a stupid question, but why do they sell sample
CDs in audio format?

That's so that people with old samplers can sample off them........ Actually
most of the people I know sample off audio CD's. Including myself even though
I have an EXS.

Sincerely,
Joe

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
