Introduction

Hello All, I joined up on this list two weeks ago and have been doing a bit of lurking. I've also been on the LUG for a while. However, since I've actually received my EXS24 in the mail this weekend I thought I would introduce myself here. I have to say: I was strongly considering Native Instrument's Kontact instead of the EXS24. I had worked quite a bit with the free demo from their site and it has some wonderful features. However, there was one thing that definitively swayed me to the EXS24: The announcement of the Vienna Symphonic Library for EXS! I absolutely know that I want to buy that library as soon as I can afford it. It sounds stunning. I think it says quite a bit that Logic will be one of the platforms of choice for this amazing film scoring tool. Having had the chance to use my EXS24 this weekend my first reactions: 1) Tight timing!! It feels tighter than Kontact running inside Logic. Not that Kontact was loose. I can feel it using that free Splendid Grand sample from AKAI. Or hear it when programming drums with 128th note flams and rolls. 2) Efficient. I've been able to really stack up some instances of the EXS24 without bogging down my computer. Of course, I went ahead and had it do the conversions to 32bit at the file level. 3) I'm glad they stole the modulation matrix from the ES2. Kontact has pretty much unlimited modulation assignment capabilities. However, the MkII of the EXS24 certainly has more than I can see myself using. blah blah... ;) Quite thrilled with my EXS24 purchase, Sam
