Release triggers

Release triggers

2003-03-25 by Michiel Post

Hi group,
I'm new to this list. I am Michiel Post, CEO and owner of Post Musical
Instruments, a Dutch company that produces the highest quality piano
libraries on this side of the planet! I started working on a native EXS24
version of our GRANDIOSO B\ufffdsendorfer290 and Steinway D libraries.

During this process I found a problem with the release triggers in the EXS24
Mk II that I can't get solved by Emagic customer support (did anyone
actually get response?).
The settings for a group of release samples does not seem to include a
seperate ADSR feature. They also don't respond to the overall ADSR's. This
way the release samples aren't usable.
Is there a way to actually overcome this limitation and apply ADSR settings
for the release samples (or for any other group for that matter)?

There isn't an ADSR, but there's a Decay parameter, which (in
company-speak) is "all you'll ever need, you don't need a full envelope for
release triggers!"

They're probably right, maybe, but I'm guessing you want to sculpt the
envelopes a little more. But then again, the "attack" part of an ADSR is
the only thing missing - the "decay" referred to is really the "release"
and the Decay and Sustain are irrelevant.

You can always hard code it in the release sample itself.
