You'll love not having to load off of CD Roms. Make sure you have plenty of hard drive space for sample storage. FTR, the EXS won't import/convert/read any of your proietary ASR or Kurzweil samples.

Yes you can sample drums. And yes, you can load vocal samples and asign them to be triggered by specific keys on your midi keyboard.

I don't know the editing functionality of these two units. But basically the sample editing for the EXS is done straight from Logic's sample editor. So it's as good as Logic's sample editor window :-)

Piece of cake.

That's more tricky. You'll need to use the Time Pitch machine for this. Which is supposedly much improved in v.6 btw. There's been surpisingly little commentary on the LUG about this specific improvement. I wonder why???

Eli you guys and gal music is beautiful sounds like they are your
originals..anyway thanks for the info i will use translator to load
my kurzweil into akai and than run it from..there..also..about the
sampling I would go to recording audio into logic or does the
exs24mkII have its own record button so I can just do it from there

Thanks,

Johnny

Why not go straight into EXS?

Thank you! FTR, those tunes were all recorded and mixed in Logic (except I Feel Good) with the EXS used for some of the drums .

When you say "run it from there", I assume you mean convert the Akai format versions into EXS via the built in functionality in Logic, right?

If so, and I've never used Translator but have heard great things about it, be prepared to most likely lose "some" of the sample parameters after the two separate stages of conversion you'll be doing. It might be things as minor as bank layouts and midi channel mapping. Or as "serious" as filter settings. Again, it may work perfectly, I don't know; but don't be surprised if it doesn't.

No, you record and edit directly into Logic as you would any audio.
