EXS 24 Logic Sampler Users Group

hello - 

i recently bought the logic big box (dipping my toe with much trepidation in
the emagic pool), feat. logic audio 5.3, exsp24, es1 and evp73.

i'm running this on a winXP laptop:
athlon xp 1600 mobility CPU (~1.2 ghz)
512 mb sdram

i can select the exsp24 from the vst instruments in logic, but it crashes
when i select an instrument/bank from the instrument, itself.  after reading
the infoweb, i've taken care to ensure that there are no more than 1000 files
or folders within any folder and that the samples are no deeper than four
directories.

no matter what, it locks - the bank/instrument menu stops redrawing, leaving
me with a big white block that eventually kills logic and sends and error
report.

what am i doing wrong?

I suspect this is something to do with the initial authorisation of the EXSP24.
When you first attempt to load an EXSP24 instance Logic will demand that the CD
be put in the drive and it will attempt to run through the authorisation
procedure. I would try putting the CD for the EXSP24 in your CD drive (the one
you installed from might be best) then open an empty song and try to open an
instance of the EXSP24 and see what happens.
