EXS mkII does.. but Kontakt?

EXS mkII does.. but Kontakt?

2003-06-11 by Bacizone

Hi,

As I see, NI Kontakt has awesome modulation abilites, but seems to me that
a very important - and creative one - is still missing, which exists at
E-MU EOS samplers, EXS24 MkII and Gigasampler.

This is the ability to use a realtime controller (like modulation wheel) to
scan through the velocity crossfade layers.

Is it achievable somewhat in Kontakt?

Thanks

Bacizone

Yes, completely and more versatile IMHO than any of the samplers you mentioned.

Unlimited Zones
Custom Curves
Multiple Modulators

Giga has only 32 possible references per region, either stereo or mono
Curves are Presets with all the above
EXS only has one global Select Range and one Vel Curve setting

Of course, with all these options you can pay a price in polyphony and
usability, but hey, at least it's there. See Kontakt 1.2, you set a
modulator under Amp (or filter, if you desire), set the source to MIDI-CC,
select #1 (mod wheel), click the curve button, and draw your own curve. Per
zone.

Thanks Garth for the tips!

I created independent groups with the "Each zone -> 1 Group" and yes.. with
this trick realtime crossfades are modulatable with cc1!

It is nice to see an another - probably more advanced - method of creating
crossfades..:)) I got accustomed to the "conventional" methods of E-MU EOS
system and the somewhat "least controllable" version of EXS, so nice to see
it from a new viewpoint!!!

Any other cool tip for the Kontakt?

Thanks!
