EXS-midi input problems

EXS-midi input problems

2001-04-02 by Julie Larson

Hi All,
I have always had a problem with midi input and the EXS...hanging
notes...notes not triggering, but it seemed to improve with each upgrade.
4.63 was actually pretty useable. I just upgraded to 4.7 and now it's not
just midi input into the EXS that has the problem. All midi instruments
have it as well. At least half of the notes don't trigger and some huge
percentage of the ones that do...hang. In fact input from my controller has
been rendered useless. I'm having to input everything in step. Is anyone
else out there having this problem? Please help if you have any clues.
thanks in advance.

Julie

hmm, well im running almost the same system as you and have
none of those difficulties. the one difference in systems is i use
an emagic mt4 midi interface, perhaps thats where the problem
lies?

Julie, as you know, our systems are practically identical and I have never
experienced these problems either. Have you tried rebuilding your system?
Are you using OMS 2.8? I don't even know where to begin... I think you even
told me that you had the latest VXPocket driver. I feel bad, and can't think
of how to help. Notes on my system stop on a dime, even in 4.7. If there's
any other clues you might have, let me know. Perhaps it will trigger a
better thought process... Jer

Thanks Jer,
Yes I have OMS 2.3.8. I'm afraid it might be the micro express. MOTU
hasn't written a new driver for it since 1999 and it may be gradually
becoming incompatable. Not easy for me to try another interface
though...live in a small town.
Maybe I'll give rebuilding the system a whirl. Thanks again for the input.
