Quantum Leap Brass on Sale

Quantum Leap Brass on Sale

2003-07-24 by Ned Bouhalassa

Hello gang,

Summer sale at Big Fish Audio. I checked out the list and thought you might
like to know that the AKAI version of Quantum Leap Brass (5 cd-roms) is on
sale for 199... I bought it 18 months ago at double that price! :

Hi Ned,

I went to Big Fish, saw no sign of QL Brass. Sale, not on sale,
anywhere. Are you sure that the vendor is big fish?

Yes, it _was_ Big Fish. It seems that since this morning, they've either
sold out of it, or they made a mistake and corrected it. I would think it's
the first option.

Something about early bird gets the...

Sorry!

QLB is an EastWest library. I found it on their site with no mention of a
blowout sale:

Sean, it was part of this list: http://bigfishaudio.com/4DCGI/sale2.html

You can always check with them if you think I was confused:

Nah, I don't doubt that you saw it there. I actually own the library, and
knowing I had bought it through EastWest, was curious as to why Big Fish
would be selling it. I have seen libraries move from one vendor to another
in the past, but since EastWest is still advertising it, we may never know
why it mysteriously appeared and disappeared on Big Fish's site. Maybe it
was a solar flare....

Dear Ned,

Just to let you know that you are not crazy. I went to the site
immediately and bought one. I have an order confirmation and everything
I will let you know if there is a mistake. Otherwise I am the proud
owner of a great brass library I was waiting for another film to justify
the purchase of.

Best

I concur as well. I also checked it out this morning. Sadly, I was not able
to order at that time. When I went back a little later to put my order in, it
was gone. I suspect that it was not a mistake and that they only had a very
small number of titles available that they were using to attract people to
their summer sale. Congrats on being quick on the draw.

I also saw it right after Ned's original posting, but unfortunately did
not act quickly enough.....

It was there on their site but I believe that they only had a small
number of copies. I'm sure that they bought only 5-10 copies from
EastWest (and obtained permission to sell these on their website)
knowing that the word would get out about the sale. Then when they ran
out, the link that contained the QL Brass CD sale offer would be
removed. I went in shortly after it was announced here on the list but
didn't have my credit card with me. When I went back a few hours
later, the link was there but no picture nor any descriptive text
remained.

I think it was a marketing ploy that certainly got me to their site and
got me to check out their sale items. Bummer because this set was
something like half off or something like that.
