However, I just (late night) received some high quality patch cables and it seemed to help. I will have to gig with it or at least heat it up good to see if it's fixed, but the funny thing is I never had this problem before. So I was starting to think that the unit was reaching the end of it's useful life; that capacitors were going bad or something. I sure hope that it's not. I hate to see this thing go, but it was an audible clip. Very dangerous to the speakers, and expensive.

Are you clipping on the 2101 unit or your mixer/amp?
I had the same issue when recording...I was using my mixer with the XLR
outs on the back of the 2101 and running with the button on the back in the on +
position. What worked for me was I switched the speaker compensator switch
to the out position and I went through all my effects and set all the
gain and volume levels the same, now no problems. These units seem to clip real
easy but I think it's due to all the effects being at different gains and volume
levels.
