The loop output of the mkIII is going to the loop input(s) on the 2101 and the 2101 loop outs are going to mkIII loop in(s)? Are any Y cables involved?
I'm pretty sure the mesa has a billion configurations as well...

I run it through the effects loop of the amp; a Mesa mkIII. This puts the GSP in control of everything except the Master, Tone Pull Boost and the EQ.
Tonight I am going to try and run the MkIII master up and that will require me to run the GSP at around 8 O'clock. I currently run it the other way (as mesa recomends). I may also turn the Global Master of the GST down to get more signal running to and from the unit.

The 1/4 inch outputs will sound distorted if they go straight to a mixer/full range speakers (in my experience). They sound better running to a guitar amp/preamp/speakers. Not sure what your setup is.

I'm not using the XLRs. I am just using the 1/4in. loop. That's good to know, though.
I do have the upgrade. I'd love to know more about this cannon-effect.
Funny thing: I swapped the better patch cables in place and it appeared to fix the clipping. I played through it a number of times to test drive and all seemed OK. Then I went through the music set with the bass player and half-way through it began clipping.
It always seems to initiate with pedal program change. I wonder if the quality of DIN chord would cause this.
I also suspect a warmed-up GSP; since it seems to be more susceptible into the set than at the beginning.
I really thought the monster patch chords were a fix and was going to say so here, but now I'm glad I didn't.

also.. does your 2101 have the PPC upgrade?? it could also be that there is a processor mismatch, and you're getting the "cannon" effect from the mismatch of the SDISC processors..

I will have to gig with it or at least heat it up good to see if it's fixed, but the funny thing is I never had this problem before. So I was starting to think that the unit was reaching the end of it's useful life; that capacitors were going bad or something. I sure hope that it's not. I hate to see this thing go, but it was an audible clip. Very dangerous to the speakers, and expensive.
