I've done it but it's been a while. Take a look here or search the board. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/gsp-users/message/8210 >________________________________ > From: "PinkFlydxx@..." <PinkFlydxx@...> >To: gsp-2101@yahoogroups.com >Sent: Thursday, May 24, 2012 12:19 PM >Subject: Re: [gsp-2101] Re: 4 cable method > > > >It is correct that this configuration will completely take out the 2101's analog section (i.e. compression, distortion, etc), but will allow you to use all the digital effects that are available on the post 2010 FX Return input side. >This set up allows you to use the amplifier's pre-amp (and any that you have coming in between the guitar and the amp) in combination with the 2101's digital effects. > >However, I would not technically refer to this set up as a "4 cable method", but it is an option. I have found that I personally like some of the 2101's pre-amp effects and prefer to use the typical 4 cable method, even though I think that I lose some of my amp's pre-amp capabilities in doing so. I have overcome even this issue (somewhat) by bypassing those 2101 pre-amp effects in a given patch in order to try to allow the amp's pre-amp to be more dominant. It works ok, but still not 100% satisfactory. > >I tried the Owner's Manual technique of splitting the signal from the guitar, and using the 2101's Bypass/Summed/NoSum to determine which pre-amp I was going to use. While it looked like a great idea in theory, the ability to control the unity gains and/or the seemingly countless volume and wet/dry adjustments became too daunting of a task for a weekend warrior type player such as me. However, if set up properly, it would give you the maximum amount of control over your amp and 2101's preamp capabilities. > > >Best of luck. > > >PS: What I would really like to find is an easy means to allow me to turn on and off certain effects within a given patch by using the Controller One. I know this is available, but damn, the programming effort seem complex and still may not result in the overall result that I am seeking. It would be nice to turn on and off the distortions and/or delays on different patches - and to have maybe a volume control on the whammy pedal. I don't mind having only 5 patches per bank if that's what it takes with the on/off's on the upper five (i.e. if you remember the old GSP21 Pro's then you know what I am talking about), but I do not want to spend hours to set up a single program to allow this. > >Anyone got any tips or tricks on doing this?
