Re: Have some 2101`s FX return porblems

2018-12-18 by me@...

If you're using the FX Return either to bypass the analog section of the GSP-2101 altogether or if you're using both the FX Send and the FX Return to include an additional FX unit in the signal chain and the GSP-2101 is giving you no signal at it's main outputs, here's the sum of my experience:

1. Check your program settings to make sure you've set the External FX Loop to either "Summed" or "No Sum". The "Bypass" setting will ignore any signal arriving at the FX Return jack. You must check this setting for each of your programs. There's no global "Summed" or "No Sum" setting.

2. Check your program settings to make sure the Stereo Noise Gate (this module is displayed after the External FX Loop setting) is set to "Bypass". There's a MIDIWizard White Paper that discusses this problem and advises to use the "Bypass" setting. Again, there's no global "Bypass" setting for the Stereo Noise Gate.

3. If both suggestions 1 and 2 do not rectify the problem, it could be that the FX Return jack is defective. I've had problems with the original jacks which are now about 25 years old. I've replaced all jacks on my 3 GDP-2101's with REAN NYS216G jacks which have gold-plated contacts.

Please let our group know how you solve the problem with your GSP-2101's FX Return.
Hope this helps,
Graham
