Re: [gsp-2101] Control One switches died

2004-03-15 by Peter

I encountered the same problem and tried to open the controler. The first
idea was indeed to resolder new ones but it's worth a try just cleaning it
with contact spray. The biggest problem I encountered was opening the unit:
the volume pedal has this little metal plate for the LED interuption. How
can you ope this without having to remove the metal plate and more, how to
remount it?

Thanks

Peter

My Control one has had many beers spilled on it from drunken bar nuts trying
to sing.
It's annoying but comes with the territory, making a living entertaining
drunks! ;-)
Surprisingly the board hasn't
>totally conked out yet after almost 10 years
of constant abuse!
I have replaced some switches in the past (resoldering new ones)
but I didn't even consider using a contact cleaner! Duh
I've been using the board with about 4 peds not working properl
> for the
last few years!
Been too lazy to replace them! LOL
After reading this post I pulled off all the plastic peds & gave the
switches a good squirt.
I didn't take the switch apart just squirted the cleaner into them.
Works like a charm now!

Thanks!
