RE: [gsp-2101] Who is Steve Vai?

2004-12-04 by Aaron Heck

Oh my!!! Who is Steve Vai? Wow! :)

Yes, he definitely one of my favorite guitar players. Plays the same stuff
Satriani does basically. In fact, I believe Vai was a student of Satriani,
or vice versa. Vai also played on one of the best albums (IMHO) ever, David
Lee Roth's Eat 'Em and Smile. Super guitar playing on that album.

I haven't listened to a lot of his newer stuff. I think he's really into
the 7 string guitars now, or at least was a few years ago. He's the
designer of the JEM series at Ibanez. Man, those things with the handles
and flower or pyramid inlay. I always wanted some of those.

Check out his web site. I'm sure he has some sound clips there. And BTW,
again in IMHO, that G3 concert has 3 of the best guitar players on the
planet. I personally Mamlsteen is just incredible.

Just one of the most amazing guitar players of all
time! October 31, 2003, I saw the G3 concert in West
Palm Beach. In addition to him, Yngwie Malmsteen and
Joe Satriani played, with all of them up together at
the end.

Steve's big solo is on a triple neck guitar - one 6
string, one 12 string, and one 6 string fretless.
Need I say more? The guy is not only an outstanding
technical master, but uses processing effects very
dramatically.

G3 Cd's and DVDs I highly recommend.
