Re: [gsp-2101] 5 pole DIN vs 6 pole DIN w/screen

2004-12-08 by Dieter Waechter

Hi!
DIN = Deutsche Industrie Norm
Check that plug! it doesn't have 5 poles!
It has 6 poles!
5 pins inside and 1 metal sleeve = 6 poles!!!! NOT 5 !!!!!
the sleeveis connected to GND and MUST be connected to the screen of the cable!

Hi,
thank you for the reply! What does DIN stand for? Also, I'm confused about how a 6 pole cable would fit into a 5 pole socket and what the xtra pole is used for.
Thanks again!
Mark

Hi!

this posting was from me.
Yes, you MUST use a "6 pole DIN cable with screen" not a "5 pole DIN cable".
the schreen is the sleeve of the cable ans insures, that no noise (light
switching pulses on stage aso.) feed into the data lines.
