2006-09-29 by danielozb

Well, I was so excite with my GSP but using his distortion it become a
preamp that together the preamp of my combo amp sound extreme bright.
I would like about some sugest, solution, coments from combo users.

P.S. I´m trying to do its distortions sound like any "classical"
distortion pedal and take adavantage of digital section (really amazing)

Thanks all

Try using the clean channel of the amp with the amps controls set to almost flat as a starting point. Use the grunge distortion, try the lowest distortion setting and set to taste. The foundation of the tone is in the Digitech e.q. with the grunge.

Im convinced that you cant get a good tone using the 2101's pre amp and the Amps pre amp.something about the double pre-amp makes is sound shitty.
Ive tried with My Marshall, My Genz, and my JSX....all poo.

I love the 2101's sound using a power amp but it dosent compare to my JSX. in a live scenario especially with a 7 string. I wish to to hell that the effects loop interfaced the amps pre stage like my old DSP256! Then I could benefit from the 2101's effects and the JSX's tone....that would be Nirvana!!

Oh well.

It depends on your taste and situation. I was using overdrive for rhythms and grunge for leads for the longest time, but now I\ufffdve been using the tube distortions a lot. Sometimes what sounds good alone sounds much different in a band setting. Regardless of what people say I still gravitate to the smiley face EQ (or at least mildly amused EQ). I find using tube settings requires me to cut the low end of the EQ more.

I agree with the smiley, hate to admit it but it works.

The best approch would be to use the slave input or line in to your amp. The reason is your amps preamp section is expecting a guitar pickup. So you end up with a compressed thin tone. If you can bypass the P/U input and use a slave or maybe the effects return you might fine what your looking for.
