No Sound with Bypassed Compressor

No Sound with Bypassed Compressor

2006-10-29 by javi_grouve

Hi guys,
In the last 10yrs only in 2 occasions (that I remember...) I had
problems with my unit.
Suddenly the sound would be gone at the output and then after a few
minutes, on it's own or by the hand holy ghost it would come back to life.
I couldn't ever figure it out... till now.
I'm having the same problem, only that this time, the sound wont come
back.
After total desperation for 1 hour I discovered that the problem is
only affecting to the patches in which the Compressor is bypassed; as
soon as i turn it "on" (the compr. that is...) the sound comes back.
Comes guys! ideas, solutions?

 Thanx and peace,

 Javi

Here is my girlfriend! (I have more...), take my guitars (have
16...), take my amps (only 2 but don't care...); but if you take my
2101... I'm F*#ked

The components involved in the by-pass path of the compressor are U8,
Q8, R87, R88, C61, C104, R82, R113. If the problem used to be
intermittent, it may only be a bad solder joint on one of these
components if it isn't the component itself. The best thing to do
would be to get the schematic in the Files section of the other
GSP2101 Yahoo group:
http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/GSP2101/

Then with a signal generator and oscilloscope, you (or a qualified
tech) could pinpoint the faulty component.

Digitech will take it for 85.00 and fix it. I just shipped a 2101 to
them with the same problem you have only in the eq section. The eq's
stopped working on any given patch.> >
