Whammy vs Whammy

Hello Everyone!
I'm wondering if any of you guys can tell me what's the difference (if any) between the Whammy built in the GSP 2101 (smooth Whammy) and Whammy as standalone pedal effect?
Since pedal is usualy placed before preamplifier, as opposed to GSP 2101, where it is placed after the preamp, I know there will be some differences in sound, but other than that?
